Village Halls Week is a national campaign which highlights the essential role village halls play in local communities, including in Buckinghamshire.
Haddenham Village Hall was featured in ACRE’s (Action with Communities in Rural England) campaign highlighting how community buildings can be made more energy efficient, and how management committees can support sustainable and environmentally friendly behaviours in their community.
Over the past few years, Haddenham Village Hall has undertaken extensive work to decarbonise their building resulting in reduced energy bills and a warmer, more comfortable hall.
Work included replacing the old gas-fired warm air unit with an air source heat pump which has re-used existing ducting, insulating the roof, and installing solar panels and EV car charging points.
You can read about the decarbonisation project here. Our village hall also features as a case study in ACRE’s latest publication, ‘Village & Community Halls: A Net Zero Design Guide’ available to download.
Haddenham Village Hall’s Management Committee Chair, Beth Knighton, took part in a livestream event on the 18th March 2024 to launch Village Halls week. You can watch the full recording here.
